in an age on the brink of destruction, a hero arises to protect thedas - but they are not here, you will need to survive until they are.
The Calling presents:
A Blighted Cause 16th - 18th November Winter 2018 will see the beginning of a new event under The Calling's banner. In November 2017 we launched a fundraising campaign for our unofficial Dragon Age LARP game, and after 2 months it surpassed it's mid-tier goal and reached full funding. Thanks to this support from fellow Dragon Age fans, we will be going ahead. So, in November 2018 prepare to be whisked away to the town of Lothering, Fereldan, where you find yourself a refugee in this small isolated town. Regardless of who you are or where in Thedas you come from, you, the other refugees, and the locals are all in the same situation: You are all at the mercy of the oncoming swarm of darkspawn. In this Survival-based Low Combat LARP it is up to you to find a way to hold out until help comes, no matter what it takes. |
The VenueFor the first time we shall be hosting our event at the Wyldwood in Huntley Wood, Stoke-on-Trent. This site is commonly used for LARPs in the UK and we will be dressing the location to fit the somber isolated setting of the refugee camp in Lothering.
Transport: The location has its own car park for those arriving by car. There is also the nearby train station of Blythe Bridge, and local taxi services can take you to the edge of the camp. For further details on the location you can visit the venue's page; http://huntleywood.uk/venues/the-wyldwood |
campingHuntley Wood provides ample space for camping in its atmospheric location. As part of your ticket we will be able to provide sleeping space in one of our 4 bell tents, or inside the heated cabins*, but if you want to have your own private tent you're welcome to bring your own or hire an in-character suitable tent from Huntley Wood themselves who also have camping equipment available.
http://huntleywood.uk/book-online/tent-hire http://huntleywood.uk/book-online/hire-equipment As it will be the middle of November expect the location to be cold. We will have fires to warm yourself beside, and heated cabins to provide shelter, but you will need to dress yourselves appropriately and bring sleeping supplies suitable to keep yourself warm. You can find suggestions and advice in our Player Resources. *those with medical and special requirements will be provided first choice of cabin space. We appreciate your understanding in this. |
Tickets & MonstersAfter our pre-order tickets went live we were left with only a handful of tickets for general purchase, so they shall be sold on first come first serve basis. However, we will also be opening a waiting list for anyone to join should there be any cancellations or last-minute spaces.
Monster and Crew space is limited, but we're always open to interest. Running this kind of event needs a variety of skills and experience, so please do get in touch if you would like to know more, or to put yourself forward. For queries please email; [email protected] |
